Bob Kindred’s original background was in planning before moving into heritage management. In his time as the former Head of Conservation and Urban Design at Ipswich Borough Council he was responsible for a number of ground-breaking initiatives including the concept of Heritage Partnership Agreements now widely promoted in statutory form
by Historic England
and Annual Conservation Management Statements as a basis for best practice benchmarking and review in local authorities. He has particular expertise on buildings-at-risk and heritage crime issues.
He was awarded the MBE for services to historic building conservation in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 1999.
From 2005 to 2012 he was the Standing Special Heritage Advisor to the House of Commons Culture Media and Sport Select Committee and advised on four major heritage Inquiries.
